United Way of El Paso County has AmeriCorps VISTA positions available!
AmeriCorps VISTA members will help in strengthening after school programs by recruiting volunteers; overseeing the implementation of a character skills learning program; and developing service learning projects. VISTA members also participate in community outreach activities and in seeking resources to support after school programs. |
Benefits of serving as an AmeriCorp VISTA member:
- Annual living allowance of $11,124 (paid bi-weekly)
- Health care benefits
- Child-care subsidy (if income eligible)
- Student loan forbearance
- Interest accrual payment on student loans
- Education award of $5,350 upon completion of the program or $1500 stipend
- Personal development opportunities, and
- Valuable hands-on experience in community development.

Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY)
AmeriCorps HIPPY (Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters) members, work with local non-profits such as Rio Vista Community Center, YMCA, AYUDA, Ysleta del Sur Pueblo, and Child Crisis Center. AmeriCorps members administer the HIPPY curriculum to parents and teach them to prepare their children to enter school ready to learn. Members also participate in community outreach and various service projects.
Benefits of serving as an AmeriCorp HIPPY member:
-Bi-monthly living allowance ($12,100 annually)
-Education Award ($5,550)
