AmeriCorps Parents as Teachers Program to celebrate 2nd Year

This July, AmeriCorps Parents as Teachers (PAT) will celebrate the growth and education of its families who participated in the second year of the program. The program, which is part of United Way of El Paso County's educational initiatives, has helped strengthen more than 400 families since its start in El Paso in 2014.

Thanks to the Tribal Council and Pueblo del Sur Administration, PAT will host an appreciation event featuring family-friendly activities, lunch and gift bags on July 23. Families enrolled in the AmeriCorps PAT program are invited to attend.

Saturday, July 23, 2016
11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Socorro Entertainment Center

Free to anyone in the El Paso County, the PAT focuses on enhancing parents' understanding of child development and interaction with evidence-based home visitations. With the Help of an AmeriCorps member who is certified as a parent educator, families learn how to engage their children in learning and prepare them for future success. Parents with children prentatal to kindergarten are eligible to particpate.
