Position: Finance Assistant
Reports to: Vice President of Finance and Administration
Purpose: The Finance Assistant contributes to the achievement of United Way of El Paso County's (UWEPC) mission and vision through effective fiscal management.
Key Accountabilities
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist the Vice President of Finance and Administration in the fiscal functions of the organization, to include:
- Manage accounts payables -- perform data entry, disburse payments and reconciliation of accounts.
- Process payroll and related documents.
- Prepare monthly distribution of approved (allocation and designation) payments to eligible agencies.
- Assist in entry to general ledgers.
- Assist in processing of pledges receivables and donor designations.
- Assist in preparation of IRS, governmental, and grant reports.
- Create reports, queries, and spreadsheets.
Provide administrative support to UWEPC to include:
- Prepare and post outgoing mail and deliver post office. Deliver deposits to bank and retrieve mail from post office.
- Serve as relief operator on the switchboard.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications--Knowledge, Education and Experience
Associate's Degree. Courses in bookkeeping/accounting preferred.
Two years of general office procedures, accounting/bookkeeping experience preferred. A combination of education and/or experience will meet qualifications.
Knowledge of the non-profit sector is a plus.
Relationships
The Finance Assistant will focus on developing and maintaining relationships with vital volunteers and stakeholders. Internal relationships involve working with all staff in other divisions within the organization.
Skills and Demonstrated Abilities
Extensive computer literacy with proficiency in Excel and other MS Office applications is required. Effectively and efficiently coordinate multiple projects.
