- United Way Seeks HIPPY/AmeriCorps

The United Way of El Paso County is recruiting candidates to fill 38 full-time HIPPY/AmeriCorps positions beginning September 1, 2010, deadline to submit applications is September 30, 2010.  
 
AmeriCorps members will work with local non-profits such as Rio Vista Community Center, YMCA, Ysleta del Sur Pueblo, The Boys and Girls Clubs of El Paso, and Child Crisis Center. AmeriCorps members will administer the HIPPY curriculum to parents and teach them to prepare their children to enter school ready to learn.  Participation in community outreach and various service projects is also required.

Eligibility:
U.S. Citizen, U.S. National or lawful permanent resident alien of the U.S.;
Individual must be least 17 years old at the commencement of service;
High school diploma or an equivalency certificate (or agrees to obtain a high school diploma or its equivalent before using an education award);
Ability to serve 42 hours per week with no outside commitments;
Bi-lingual (English Spanish) with English proficiency;
Ability to pass a background check.
