1. Tell us about yourself.
I graduated from New Mexico State University with a Bachelor of Accountancy and a minor in Psychology. I worked for a local CPA firm while going to college and continued on after graduation. I then moved into the private sector and worked as a Controller for five hardware stores. In 2013, I moved to the government sector and worked for the City of Las Cruces as the Disbursements Manager where I managed the accounts payable, payroll and benefits for the city.
2. Give us a description of what you do for United Way.
I am the accountant for United Way. I process payments to vendors, payroll for United Way employees & AmeriCorps Members amongst other accounting duties.
3. Why is this work so important to our community?
I believe that as a functioning society it is all of our responsibility to serve our community in some capacity. United Way does an amazing job of helping those within the El Paso County with bettering the quality of life for many.
4. What is the most surprising thing you have learned about the community and yourself in your time at United Way?
The resources that are available to individuals and families in need. Since my time here I have realized that I was unaware and uneducated of the needs of so many families.
