2021 Celebration of Giving Week Recap

Thank you for joining us for our Celebration of Giving Week. We hope you enjoyed learning more about our United Way, reflecting on the past year, and celebrating the individuals and companies who help us do what we do best—YOU.

We spent the first day reflecting on our Community Impact successes of the past year, from continuing to fund more than 50 programs despite a pandemic to serving as the backbone for the El Paso United Community Resiliency Center, which opened to support those financially impacted by COVID-19. We also supported the opening of the Book Nook at Sunland Park Mall and successfully transitioned our programs to a virtual format in response to the pandemic, from home visits through our Parents as Teachers program to the Young Leaders Society by REALIZE Board Training Program. But we couldn’t have accomplished any of this without your support.

On Day 2, we honored our ARCO Companies—organizations who donate significantly to our United Way, whether through workplace giving campaigns and corporate gifts. It is because of the support of our ARCO Companies that we can continue to fund vital programs throughout the community.

We dedicated Day 3 to honoring our partner agencies in our four impact areas—health, education, basic needs, and financial stability. We also took the time to highlight our donor networks. Members of RISE and our Young Leaders Society took over our Instagram profile, giving viewers an inside look at what it’s like to be members of our esteemed donor networks.

Rounding out the week with Day 4, we took the time to celebrate our board of directors, including returning, retiring, and incoming members who have and will help us as we continue to make our mark in the community. This included remarks from our incoming board chair, Ruben Hernandez, and from our outgoing board chair, Crystal Long.

On the final day of our Celebration of Giving Week, we kicked off our award ceremony, awarding our corporate and community awards to organizations making a difference throughout El Paso. Our full list of winners include:

Change-Maker Award: UPS
