United Way of El Paso County invites all out of school time (OST) providers to join the next Borderland Out of School Time Network (BOOST) quarterly meeting taking place Tues., June 6 at the Stanton Tower 1st Floor Auditorium.
The newly founded network aims to create a cooperative community that supports quality OST experiences where children and youth thrive. BOOST supports the collaboration, coordination, and communication among OST program providers and community stakeholders across the Paso del Norte Region.
This month, BOOST will be hosting Alison Reis-Khan, executive director of TXPOST. TXPOST is a statewide network of nonprofit, public and private sector partners dedicated to increasing the quality and availability of OST opportunities for Texas youth. Reis-Khan will be giving members and stakeholders a Texas legislative update in regards to legislation that could affect the after-school and summer programs in Texas, including Senate Bill 1404. The bill would require school districts and open-enrollment charter schools to report certain information regarding voluntary after-school programs and voluntary summer programs.
This BOOST quarterly meeting will also include discussion about steering committee nominations. Those interested in taking active roles in the Network can apply to be one of the following: chair, co-chair, and communications chair. Individuals can learn more about the positions here.
