Dr. Laura Gallegos joins United Way of El Paso County staff

El Paso, TX (Feb. 10, 2016) - United Way of El Paso County (UWEPC) welcomes Laura Gallegos, Ed.D.,  as its Vice President of Resource Development.


Dr. Gallegos will be leading the strategic and tactical efforts of the organization’s traditional and non-traditional resource development goals. The position’s responsibilities include expanding revenue streams in support of a strategic plan for sustainability and growth of donor relationships, business partners and staff.


Previously, Dr. Gallegos was the Senior Director of Communications and Marketing at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso. There she supported the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine, Gayle Greve Hunt School of Nursing, Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and a network of physicians called Texas Tech Physicians. In addition, she served as the legislative liaison for the university.


Dr. Gallegos earned her doctorate in Educational Management and Development from New Mexico State University. Early in her career, Dr. Gallegos worked in broadcast journalism in the El Paso and Denver markets. After leaving news, she took the position of the Denver Public Schools Assistant Director of Public Information for the 72,000 student district before returning home to her hometown of El Paso. She is the mother of two boys, Santiago, 13, and Diego, 11.
