El Paso, TX (Oct. 31, 2016) - Open Enrollment to select a plan or be automatically re-enrolled in quality, affordable coverage through the Health Insurance Marketplace begins Tues., Nov. 1, 2016. This will be the fourth year the Enroll El Paso, a coalition comprised of local agencies, will assist individuals in the process. Since it began its efforts, the coalition has assisted in enrolling 59,000 El Pasoans.
El Paso consumers are encouraged to go back to the shop to view their new options and learn how much financial help they qualify for as new plans and new prices will be available each enrollment cycle. Through the coalition, consumers affected by plan exits or need help finding a plan can schedule an appointment with an in-person assister who can walk them through their options.
Results show that more than 7 in 10 current Marketplace consumers could save an average of $682 in annual premiums next year if they go back to shop for a better coverage at a lower cost instead of re-enrolling in their current plan. What's more, 85 percent of both current Marketplace consumers and Marketplace-eligible uninsured Americans qualify for tax credits that help make coverage affordable.
"We're excited and proud that Americans who need coverage will get their fourth annual opportunity to shop on an open Marketplace, one where you can no longer be denied coverage because of a pre-existing health condition and where it's easy to make apples-to-apples comparisons among plans that cover core benefits," said Jose Medrano, Regional Director of Enroll America. "As the President reminded us, now it's up to us and our friends and partners across the nation to spread the word and help connect more Americans with the good, affordable coverage they want and need."
