1. Tell us about yourself.
I was born and raised alongside the US-Mexico border. I started my college adventure at UTEP and completed my Bachelor’s degree in Accounting at the University of Texas at San Antonio. I immediately started working as a State Auditor and continued doing audits for the next 8 years.
I currently serve as the accountant here at United Way of El Paso County.
2. Give us a description of what you do for United Way.
I am part of the accounting department which oversees all of the revenue and expenses of the organization. Following a comprehensive set of accountability guidelines, I help handle the funds coming from individuals, corporate, local, state and federal grants.
3. Why is this work so important to our community?
My work behind the scenes helps the organization positively impact not only our community members but other nonprofit organizations throughout the El Paso and Juarez region.
4. What is the most surprising thing you have learned about the community and yourself in your time at United Way?
The most surprising and satisfying feeling is to know that we have the capability to help, impact and change the lives of our children and youth.
5. Share a quote that motivates you as a person and as a member of the United Way team.
"We rise by lifting others." Connecting our most vulnerable to basic needs, promoting financial stability and connecting people to give, volunteer and advocate for others is our primary goal.
