1. Tell us about yourself.
I was born and raised in El Paso, TX by a phenomenal single mother who is my hero and inspiration every day. I have an amazing fiancé and two adorable puppies – Aubree and Brodie. My favorite color is Glitter because just like glitter that always sticks, I believe that if I can leave a small impact or stick to the lives of people I meet, I can make the world a little brighter, one person at a time. I moved to San Antonio to receive my bachelor’s degree at St. Mary’s University in Business Administration and was able to engage in many experiences that led me to this remarkable opportunity to work for United Way of El Paso County. I love to make life an adventure and am always excited to push myself past my own limits.
2. Give us a description of what you do for United Way.
As the Fund Development Assistant, I am able to foster and encourage community support for the greater good of El Paso. By working with and maintaining vital partnerships from local organizations, businesses, and individuals, we are effectively able to provide a collaborative effort to fund numerous programs from nonprofits who rely on our support. Our department is able to be the working hands to help give, advocate, and volunteer to make the difference in our community.
3. Why is this work so important to our community?
Mahatma Gandhi once said, “Be the change you want to see in the world” and here at United Way we are committed wholly to making our city the best it can be. With endless opportunities to give, advocate, and volunteer, we are continuously investing the time and effort to make sure our El Paso community thrives and is a better place for us all. I genuinely believe that the work we do behind the scenes in our office goes a long way for all those impacted.
4. What is the most surprising thing you have learned about the community and yourself in your time at United Way?
One of the most surprising things I have come to see is the way United Way has a hand in helping out all of the El Paso community. I am constantly in awe of just how vast the impact we as an entity hold. It is fun and exciting to see the ways that my role can contribute to the greater good and I am humbled by this experience.
