United Way's RISE, El Paso's first group for Millennials who want to give back, will be hosting two events focused on adding color to lives of children living in Segundo Barrio. The first event is a mixer and school supply drive on Thurs., July 20 that's focused on collecting items such as colors, color pencils, markers, wide-ruled paper, spiral notebooks, pens, pencils and more.
The follow-up event on Sat., Aug. 5 is a school beautification project. Participants will have the opportunity to work with recipients of the school supplies to plant flowers along Guillen Middle School.
El Paso Indpendent School District's Community Schools will be helping distribute the school supplies and organize the Saturday service project. EPISD's Community Schools Program is focused on helping families in Segundo Barrio find and easily access community resources.
Both evetns are free and open to young professionals in the El Paso community who want to give back in a casual and fun way. Donation of a school supply is highly encouraged.
The purpose of the events is to engage young El Pasoans in building community.
