(El Paso, TX) – The United Way of El Paso County (UWEPC) rallied staff to participate in a special day of volunteering with two local nonprofits: Jardin de Milagros and the El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank. In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy of service—and as a key pillar of United Way’s programming—this annual day of volunteerism has become an essential part of United Way’s calendar worldwide.

As part of their service, UWEPC staff helped package carrots at the food bank, completed maintenance work at the Jardin de Milagros farms, and connected with Mayor Renard Johnson, who also volunteered at El Pasoans Fighting Hunger.

Volunteerism plays a vital role in strengthening the El Paso community by bringing people together to address local needs, support essential services, and foster a shared sense of responsibility. For UWEPC, volunteer engagement is central to its mission of mobilizing the caring power of communities to improve lives. By connecting individuals with meaningful service opportunities, United Way helps build a more resilient, compassionate region where neighbors support one another and nonprofits are better equipped to carry out their work.

For those looking to create a volunteerism opportunity for your local business or organization, United Way of El Paso County can connect you to local nonprofits throughout the County. Please reach out to America Breceda at abreceda@unitedwayelpaso.org.
